FY2025 Annual Report Now Available

This year has been one of growth, discovery, and meaningful connection, and we’re thrilled to share it with you. CivicsEDU’s FY2025 Annual Report, “The Pathfinder Year,” is now live, and it tells the story of how a shared commitment to civic learning is shaping communities across the Central Carolinas.

Civic literacy has always been at the heart of what we do. In a time when political division can feel overwhelming, we’ve seen how knowledge, dialogue, and community can bring people together in powerful ways. Over the past year, we’ve created spaces where curiosity is welcomed, questions are encouraged, and neighbors can imagine new possibilities for their communities — together.

From our very first Civic Academy Program in York, SC, where residents explored how local government works from the inside out, to a Media Literacy Seminar that helped rising college students navigate today’s information landscape, each program was a reminder that civic education isn’t just relevant — it’s essential.

Here are just a few highlights:

  • Seven (7) residents graduated from the inaugural Civic Academy Program, contributing 42 hours of learning and dialogue about planning and utilities.
  • Fifty-one (51) students joined our Media Literacy Seminar at Johnson C. Smith University, over 90% of them representing racial minority groups.
  • We hosted thought-provoking conversations like “Defending Democracy,” visited local campuses, and partnered with organizations that share our belief in the power of civic learning.
  • Individual donors made up 73% of our funding, fueling our work and ensuring our programs remain accessible to all.

The path we’re forging together is just beginning. As we move into FY2026, we’re expanding our team, laying the groundwork for our first three-year strategic plan, and transforming our Civic Academy into Civic YOUniversity — an exciting new chapter in our mission to strengthen civic literacy at the local level.

None of this happens without the people who believe in the work — you. Whether you participated in a program, partnered with us, donated, or simply shared our vision with someone new, your support is what keeps this movement alive.
