We are thrilled to announce that CivicsEDU, in partnership with the City of York, SC, has completed the first session of our Civic Academy Program! This four-week, cohort-based initiative is designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of local government operations, focusing on how critical city departments like Planning and Utilities shape daily life and long-term community development.

In our inaugural session, participants were introduced to the basics of the York City Government. The session sparked vibrant discussions about zoning laws, community growth, and how strategic planning influences York’s future. Participants had the unique opportunity to interact with city leaders, ask questions, and dive into real-world case studies that shed light on local government decision-making.

We’re proud to see such high engagement from our first group of participants, who are already sharing thoughtful insights about York’s evolving landscape. As we continue through the program, we anticipate more exciting conversations, hands-on learning experiences, and, ultimately, actionable policy recommendations in our concluding workshop.
